THE SACRIFICE.

The Prophet, as became a Reverend Seer,
Has told the glories of the rising year;
The Priest, in turn, his function now supplies,
With joy to make the solemn sacrifice.

To death are now decreed,
Prepare to welcome this New-Year,
And let the victims bleed.
